Materials I Used – Cuddle-Sized Bluebird Pattern

Hey, all! Oliver the Bluebird’s pattern is now available for purchase! It got finished a little early, which is always exciting! You can purchase his pattern HERE.

I get asked a lot what the exact yarn and materials are that I use for my patterns, so I’ve gone ahead and listed the exact materials I used for Oliver and links to purchase them!

Yarn – For the blue, I used Red Heart Super Saver in the color “Turqua”. (I know, you would have never guessed). You can purchase it HERE.

For the yellow, I also used Red Heart Super Saver in the color, “Lemon”. (That’s easier to guess.) You can purchase it HERE.

Safety eyes – I used 15mm eyes for Oliver and I purchased them HERE. These are the best value I’ve found! If you’re interested in other safety eyes I use, take a look at my blog post HERE

Stuffing – For Oliver, I used stuffing like you can find HERE. But just as an interesting sidenote, I recently discovered dry polyester packing fiberfill (see it HERE) because I couldn’t find anything else during an emergency trip to the craft store and I actually really like it! It has kind of a sticky texture – although, it’s not really sticky – so that it stays in place easily and really packs in well, especially in tight corners. I wasn’t sure about it at first, but I think I’m going to be using it more often.

Other odds and ends – I’m never without my trusty Clover Amour stitch markers and if you could be in love with a stitch marker, I guess I’d be in love. You can find them HERE.

These are the tapestry needles I use HERE.

Crochet hooks are very personal things, but just in case you ever wondered what I use, I love Susan Bates brand and almost never use anything else! Find them HERE.

Well, I guess that’s it for Oliver’s pattern! Let me know if you have any other questions about materials!

  1. Hi Holly! What a coincidence! Just today I bought (by mistake) one huge bag of this dry polyester packing fiberfill, and as soon as I opened the bag, I immediately felt completely disappointed about it. So now I decided to take a look at your blog to relax and I found out you’ve also tried this fiberfill and had a different opinion about it, which was amazing to me. I was so disappointed, that I could not think that it can actually be good to use it to fill small pieces and corners. Now I’m feeling much better about it! Btw, I love your work! Thanks for sharing so many great ideas and information! :*

    1. Hi Marina!
Yes! I was a little disappointed about it at first too! But then I started using it and it’s really good for stuffing small amis or smaller body parts! I think I’ll always keep a bag on hand just in case! :D Thanks so much for reading, I’m really glad you found it helpful! Hope you can put your stuffing to good use too!
