Wow! I can’t believe that 2017 is almost over! It’s been an absolutely incredible year for Storyland Amis and I’m so thankful for where God has allowed me to take my business. I’m also extremely thankful to YOU for following along and always encouraging me!
Every New Year’s Eve it’s always fun to take a moment to look back and see everything that has happened over the course of that year. This week I’ve been thinking about all the things that have happened to Storyland Amis this year. Continue reading 2017 in Review – 11 Things That Made it Extra Special
Merry Christmas from Storyland Amis and all my little ami friends who have made appearances throughout the year! I pray that you all have a blessed and safe Christmas spent with family and loved ones. And may your New Year be happy and filled with lots of crocheting! (As I hope mine will be!)
Oh, yes! Do you need some last minute greeting cards? You can download these FREE crochet inspired cards from I Like Crochet HERE. (The little lamb one is my favorite!) Continue reading Merry Christmas!
Hey, ya’ll! I recently had the great honor of being able to design an exclusive pattern for Stacey Trock’s Ami Club for the month of December! When Stacey first contacted me about it, I wasn’t at all sure what I wanted to design. For some reason, a tiger or a raccoon kept popping into my mind so I suggested them both. Stacey had just recently designed a raccoon, so I settled on a tiger!
I had designed a tiger about a year ago for my 100 amigurumi countdown, but he was only about four inches tall and I knew that I wanted to make some needed changes to the design so I might as well start afresh with a new tiger design that was about twice the size of my first one. Hi, guys! I can’t believe it, but today marks the two year anniversary of Storyland Amis! It was two years ago on November 30th that I opened up my Etsy shop and started sharing my creations with the world! I had been preparing for my big opening for months, almost a year to be exact. I wanted everything in my shop to be designed by me and I wanted to be prepared and have a lot of inventory before I started. Plus, before November 24th I hadn’t even graduated from high school yet, and my parents wanted me to wait on opening my shop until after then. (Being homeschooled, we had our school year from January to October, hence the reason I graduated in November.) Continue reading Two Year Anniversary
Hello, all! It’s that time of year when we need to start seriously start thinking about Christmas gifts, so I’ve put together a little gift guide for you to browse through. As a small business owner myself, I know how incredibly important it is to support other small businesses, especially around the holidays. When I was younger, my sisters and I went to craft fairs every year around Christmas time and were always so grateful to each and every person who supported us by buying something from our table. I still feel so grateful when people support my shop during the holidays! Continue reading Shop Small Gift Guide
Hey, ya’ll! A few months ago I was contacted by Nade of Secret Crochet Club asking me if I would like to contribute a design for one of their subscription boxes. Secret Crochet Club is a new crochet club where you subscribe and receive a crochet subscription box every month. In each box is an exclusive pattern, ALL the materials you need to make it, and lots of other wonderful goodies crammed inside! You can purchase a three-month subscription, six-month subscription, or if you like, just the current month’s box. The fun thing about this crochet club is that the contents of the boxes are a secret (hence the name) until you receive the box. Continue reading Secret Crochet Club Collab
Hey, ya’ll! I know that there are a lot of people just starting out their Instagram accounts, who haven’t had much experience in the field of giveaways. But eventually, everyone wants to have a giveaway. And why not? Giveaways are fun and a great way to engage people and gain new followers! But it’s tricky to run a successful giveaway and I know a lot of people are confused with the technical aspects of it as well. Things like, how people should enter their giveaway, what their post should look like, and how they should pick a winner. Continue reading How To: Have a Successful Instagram Giveaway
Hey, ya’ll! I’ve just published Paddy the Polar Bear’s pattern and you can find it HERE! I had a lot of fun designing this guy, so I hope you have fun making him. His chubby cheeks have been stealing people’s hearts ever since I first designed him as a part of my Christmas in July Project. I want to make him with different colored scarves and I also want to make a brown bear using his pattern! You’ll also be able to purchase a finished polar bear in my next shop restock happening next month if you don’t crochet, so keep an eye out! Continue reading Cuddle-Sized Polar Bear Pattern
Hey, ya’ll! I was very excited to recently have hit 30,000 followers on Instagram! I mean, that is really just mind-blowing! Last year at this time I had three to four thousand followers and it’s incredible to think how my account has grown since then. I’m very grateful to all of you for making that happen. If it wasn’t for Instagram I wouldn’t have the business I have. God has blessed me tremendously and sometimes I’m overwhelmed with what He’s done for me. Hey, ya’ll! Most of you have probably already seen in the shop that the Gingerbread Twins’ pattern is now available for purchase, but I wanted to write a post just in case you hadn’t! You can find their pattern HERE. This pattern has been long-awaited by many of you and I’m just thrilled with how many of you have already purchased it and started making your cuties! Hey, ya’ll! After my giveaway with Stacey from Fresh Stitches, I noticed a lot of people commenting and saying how hard it was to find safety eyes and how scarce and rare certain sizes were to find. So I thought it would be nice if I compiled a list of shops where you can buy safety eyes at and cut out some of the searching for you! I know that a lot of people aren’t able to find safety eyes locally, myself included. In fact, the only place I’ve ever been able to find them locally is at Hobby Lobby. And their selection is quite limited. Thus, most of the time I buy all my safety eyes online. Continue reading Where to Find Safety Eyes
Hey, ya’ll! I never thought I’d be featured in a magazine, (although I’ll admit, it’s certainly been a dream of mine for the last few months) but last month I was featured in Simply Crochet Magazine Issue 61! I was so thrilled and honored when they asked me if I’d like to be featured in a mini profile. If you follow me on Instagram you probably saw my post from last month about it when it first came out. But just today I finally got my hands on a hard copy. Three actually! And so to celebrate I’m going to GIVE AWAY [closed] one of those copies along with the special crochet hook that came with it!
